The only thing that scared me was how fast this game was xD Nah but being serious this game was pretty cool and if the monster can actually kill/chase you in the full release that would be awesome :D
After try the trial, This game is really scary. What do you think? it is worth to buy the full game?
Honestly, loved the game, the voice acting was amazing, the textures and various maps used were amazing and ofcourse, the 3D models models used were very well made (i am assuming that you guys made all the assets used)
You guys really nailed the horror feeling of the asylum but using billboarded textures kinda....ummm...well, it was more funny than scary tbh lol (especially when you are able to get close to them, like the man in the morgue). I did loved the placement of lights and many subtle things done. Overall, like i said earlier, i really loved game (and this is coming from someone who hates horror games lol). Also, that red png jumpscare in the cell WAS NOT COOL! (freakin had nightmares about that one.....)
Like others have said good potential. It has an atmosphere to it the game worked properly and the voice acting was good. One issue is I didn't feel much tension while going through the environments after awhile I had no way to lose so I had no reason to feel scared. I would add a timer in the room with the puzzle in which you could fail or do something to build tension. I felt like I was in no rush. It has more going for it than the average hacked together indie horror. I found myself curious as to what would happen next and wasn't able to see the plot a mile away.
The bathroom area was kind of frustrating for me. I knew I had to find something but spamming the mouse button on the toilets didn't give me any sort of direction as to whether I was on the right track. I had to click too many times to find what it was I needed.
In the morgue the puzzle was slightly confusing and I had to use an educated guess to find out what the last item count was supposed to be. The first to where easy enough but It wasn't clear what I was supposed to be looking for on the last one.
I was expecting to get jumpscared at least once but It didn't happen.
But as a whole I did like it. I know how much time and effort games take. So I respect the effort and look forward to see what you create.
There's a lot of potential here! The use of 2d sprites for the ghosts is a neat idea that I don't think I've seen before, so that's really cool! Good luck with the full release!
For just about 7 days the game isn't half bad! The atmosphere can be a little unsettling and the art and other things are pretty well made as well. One thing I could say though is to work on the voice acting a little. Won't fault the game much for that though since I know that voice acting can be tough. Either way a great start to a new game though. Hope to see more of this in the coming future!
I really enjoyed this game. I like the art style and the voice acting was done very well, I hope to see this game fully released someday and figure out the whole story and what's going on. I did a small play-through video in a different kind of style that was just fun for me, so check it out if you want and see this cool game in action!
Bro that game is really nice but not that much scary, hope to see more and more.
It really puts in the creep factor, though I'd suggest putting in the time to make 3d models instead of relying on the 2d models. Beyond that, good job.
This game is very interesting! I love the concept of waking up in the mental asylum and trying to find out what’s going on as they try to escape. Plus, the apparitions, such as Daisy and Daisy’s father, are unique as they both look different from each other, yet they add more mystery to the game as to how Justin knew them. Thank you for making this game! I love to play the full version soon!
This game is interesting
haha just kiddin well done man but i mean you should probably make 3d models instead of just having 2d stickers
Thank you! Half & half. Some people liked 2D characters since they are unique. We will use both 2D & 3D characters in the final version.
Really loved the ideas behind the puzzles and i'm pretty intrigued by the story. Looking forward to learning more about it in the full game!
Thank you for playing. There is a short bio on this game page which may answer some of your question.
Really amazing and fun game!!!!
I liked this one, it is a little different to what I usually play and for a demo it was nice and simple to understand, I would love to see the full game when it is done. If I see this on Gamejolt I will give you my full support :)
I don't understand why no one else has hit on the fact that Daisy is literally making your character drink from a toilet in this game. Am I just taking crazy pills or what is going on here?! Seriously, deranged girl.
Fun little demo though. It was like a game called Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion, but with good graphics. And intended for adults. And not cartoony. So I guess it doesn't remind me of that game at all. I'm done. Keep it up guys.
I see GREAT potential in this one, your prototype is a perfect pocket dimension of fear it did a great job of exposing me to plenty of atmosphere and jump scares.
I can only imagine the terror I'll feel playing the complete version and I encourage you to continue making games to scare, you clearly have a talent for it.
This was short and sweet. It had a solid backstory that really supported what was going on in the game. The character models and animation was awesome and definitely unique. The voice acting was phenomenal and the visuals were great. I had no issues with this game other than my own poor deducing skills when it came to counting things. Everything ran great and I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time. This was awesome and I can't wait to see more! Thanks for making this!
Thank you for playing!! Great video, you are so fun!
Check this demo out it was short but really good. There are few things I noticed that could use a look at.
1. The newspaper in the bathroom needs a grammer check. I love the backstory but it just need to flow better.
2. Some of the door animations just disappear.
3. Consider lengthening the demo a little bit. Where it ends now is kind of sudden and mabey should end after going through a door or something? Just to make it a bit better.
Other than that I loved it and can't wait for the full game. I will definitely be a buyer.
The game feels like it has loads of potential, just needs moar Spookiness, spooky ghosts, aggressive ghosts :P Then it's a done deal!
GHOSTS OF THE PAST | The Lunatic Full Gameplay Walkthrough
Gave it a go...
that's great game! 재밌었어요
I found your project really interesting to say the least!
First of all the use of the dynamic lighting and fog effect/particles is setting an intense, mysterious atmosphere. Good job in utilizing the lighting system of Unity engine.
The characters being sprites is definitely a pretty nice and unique touch. While reminding old school games, the sprites actually serve a good purpose of making the ghost figures more believable and eerie, not to mention they were probably faster to make. Messing with transparency and transculency using shaders with 3d models can be really challenging to get a good looking result, especially with deferred rendering.
The music and sound quality is pretty good as well. The fact that the audio is well balanced makes the game enjoyable, since you can hear everything clearly.
However the most impressive thing audio wise is the voice acting. The voices were clear and the acting was spot on, not cheesy or over the top. It is impressive that you pulled this that accurately.
All in all it is a pretty enjoyable experience, even though somewhat short.
I wish you the best and hopefully we will see a finished game in the future!!
That was a detailed feedback! Thank you so much!!
really like the demo cant wait to see more seems very interesting !!
That jumpscare really got me! loll I really enjoyed the game the idea is great! I cant wait for the full game! there was a small typo in the newletter unless i read it wrong lol but besides that i enjoyed it :)
I couldn't really find any faults with the demo, apart from the door to the code puzzle room randomly disappearing when I walked through it, and the fact that the demo ended so abruptly, I thought the game had crashed for a moment.
I think that this is a fairly solid demo and a good taster for what's to hopefully come. The correct pieces are definitely in play here, so I hope to see this project come to completion some day.
I hope you don't mind but I made a short let's play of the demo for my channel.
Cheers and best wishes!
Made a video
This was cool! I enjoyed trying out the game! I can't wait to see what you will do with the game in the future! :D
Not bad at all! It felt more unique than anything else, and I think mostly because of the visual design. The voice work and sound were pretty good but the 2d sprites in 3d space was a little distracting to me. Overall it was really well paced, the puzzles hit a decent balance and the story was compelling enough to want to continue. Well done!
It could definitely use some improvements, but it was a decent demo. Here is my gameplay:
Pretty cool game so far. It's creepy without blatant jumpscares, which is nice. The graphics are good and the puzzles are cool. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you for playing!!! BTW, there is a jump scare! put on your headphone and go find it! Will be a surprise!!!
